City of Charlotte Home Security System
March 8, 2012
I really need to stop reading newspapers from other states. Without fail, it always results in me worrying about self defense and alarm systems. I sure there are a lot of North Carolina residents searching home security Charlotte today after seeing yesterday’s newspaper article about a family who was severely beaten in their own home. The mother and her teenage son had to be rushed to the hospital after a violent home invasion. He seven year old son was also home at the time but managed to somehow escape injury. The article says the police have at least one person of interest in the case, but they have yet to locate him. When families in Charlotte settle in for the evening, their door locks might not give them the same level of comfort that they did the night before. Wireless alarm systems with door and window sensors, mobile monitoring systems, and multiple layers of backup protection must be looking pretty good right now. Heck, they are looking good to me and I’m not even within 1,000 miles of the market for Charlotte home security systems. It is amazing how reading about something that happened across the country can create a very real fear in someone so far away. Hence my need to stop reading newspapers from other cities and states. Heaven knows there are more than enough crimes around these parts to keep me well stocked in worries.
The Facebook Burglar
October 28, 2011
For years police have been urging users not to post their location on Facebook. Burglars are taking advantage of empty homes, knowing their owners are away on vacation or maybe even just out for the night. Such is the case with a recent home break-in.
While a family was away they asked a neighbor to periodically check on their home. On one of his trips to the home he discovered an open door. He called the police who then informed the family. Turns out they were the victims of a home burglary. Even more alarming is the accused thief – their Facebook friend, Steve Pieczynski. The 36-year-old is facing up to 20 years in prison for the burglary.
Investigators were led to his home when a neighbor reported a suspicious car parked in the family’s driveway. The watchful neighbor was observant enough to take down the car’s license plate number. The registration documents ultimately led police to Pieczynski.
Before going away, always arm your home alarm. Remember that status updates can make your home an easy target. Wait until after you return home to share the exciting news of where you’ve been.
